If you’re on Medicare and need hearing aids, you may wonder whether you’re covered. Will your hearing aids be free, or will you have to cover part or all of their cost? The short answer is that Medicare does not cover your hearing aids, and you will be responsible for 100% of the cost. If you’re on a Medicare Advantage Plan (A private insurance company approved by Medicare that often covers more than original Medicare does) it may extend coverage to your hearing aids. Original Medicare does, however, cover hearing screenings if they are ordered by your doctor to diagnose and treat a medical condition. Medicare does not cover routine hearing screenings. If your hearing aids are not covered, however, you’re not out of luck. Today’s hearing aids come in a variety of styles at a many different price points, so you’re sure to find something in your budget. Need hearing aids? Come into Clifton Springs Hearing Center today.
